Last Saturday, 20 December 2025, the “35 Jaar Later Stratego Memorial Toernooi” was held in Nijmegen: a special day filled with great games, memories and competitive Stratego.
The tournament was held in memory of:
Tim de Kanter • Renè Helmus • Frank Poppelaars • Max van Wel • Norman Koks • Ruben van de Bilt • Eric van de Haar
It was a warm and respectful tribute, with a strong sense of connection and remembrance around the Stratego board.
After five rounds, the final standings were:
🥇 1st – Anjo Travaille (27 points)
🥈 2nd – Wim Sikteoeboen (24 points)
🥉 3rd – George Franka (22 points)
Anjo Travaille played strongly and consistently and convincingly claimed the tournament victory. Wim Sikteoeboen and George Franka completed the podium after an exciting tournament.
There was plenty of competitive play further down the standings as well, with strong performances from Edy Schurink, Ronald Kieftenbeld and Philippe Bergiers, among others.
