This year, Breda once again hosted the Dutch Stratego Championship. With 28 participants – including five debutants – there was a strong turnout and an excellent atmosphere. Bastiaan Wassing was crowned the best newcomer and won the book From Beginner to Winner by former World Champion Richard Ratcliffe (https://steelcitypress.co.uk/product/stratego-from-beginner-to-winner/).
After seven exciting rounds, Pim Niemeijer successfully defended his title, becoming Dutch champion for the fifteenth time. He won six games and drew one. Sem van Geffen achieved the same score, but narrowly missed out on the title due to a slightly lower tiebreak score. Ricardo Kik finished third with five wins and two losses. Sebastiaan van der Molen was the best junior and can call himself Dutch Junior Champion for the next year.
